Veterans Way to be dedicated in memory of Owen Fitz’Gerald

Owen Fitz’Gerald was instrumental in the creation of Veterans Way at the Ferguson Forest Centre. Veterans Way is being dedicated in memory of Fitz’Gerald, who passed away in 2016. The ceremony is set for this Saturday at the Veterans Way Memorial Park beginning at 2:00pm. North Grenville Mayor David Gordon says Fitz’Gerald was dedicated to the community.

Veterans Way was established in 2002 as a site of remembrance and reflection in honour of the men and women who served in Canada’s Armed Forces. The roadway is a tree-lined living memorial and each year new names are added to the plaques. Gordon says Veterans Way wouldn’t exist without Fitz’Gerald.

The public is welcome to attend the ceremony. A special invitation has been extended to all members of Canada’s Armed Forces. If it rains, the ceremony will be held at the Pte. Blake Williamson Memorial Hall.
