Fundraising campaign for Gord Brown Memorial Rink nears $25,000

A GoFundMe campaign in honour of MP Gord Brown is nearing the $25,000 mark. The goal is to raise $100,000 to build a second ice rink in Gananoque. The project was a longtime dream of Brown’s, who died on May 2. Organizer Kathrine Christensen says the ice pad was Brown’s vision.

Christensen worked with Brown for the past 10 years as executive director of the Thousand Islands Accommodation Partners. She says Brown worked tirelessly on the ice rink file.

The GoFundMe campaign launched May 4. Brown’s brother, Jeff Brown, came up with the idea for the campaign. Christensen says the second rink will built.
