The Kemptville Youth Centre (KYC) has partnered with Jumpstart to bring in some funds. The two organizations are hosting a barbecue at the Kemptville Canadian Tire this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served and all proceeds will go to the local chapter of Jumpstart, which pays for kids to play sports. Operations manager Pat Henderson says Jumpstart is a big supporter of the KYC.
Between 20 and 30 local youth, age 12 to 18, drop by the KYC every day. People can also drop off book donations to the KYC during the barbecue. The annual KYC Book Fair is the biggest in the region and brought in almost $20,000 for the organization last year. Henderson says the money is put towards youth programming and operation costs.
