Municipality using $52,000 grant to beautify downtown Kemptville

Downtown Kemptville is getting a facelift. The municipality got a $52,000 grant from the Association of Municipalities Ontario, through the Main Street Revitalization Initiative. Where the dollars will be spent was discussed at council Monday night. Economic development officer Matt Gilmer says there are many projects on the table.

The other projects include a gateway entrance at the north end of Rideau Street, 22 new banners, 22 heritage street lights, parking on Reuben Crescent with a walkway to Prescott Street and a tourism kiosk at the library. Gilmer says the total cost of all the projects is $78,000.

Applying for Eastern Ontario Development Program funding to cover the extra cost was recommended.
