UPDATE: Highway reopened after fatal three transport crash on Highway 401

Update: The road was reopened overnight.

Update: The OPP says while the westbound lanes remain closed, one lane, the right lane, has been reopened on the eastbound side.

Update: Constable Suzanne Runciman of the Grenville County OPP says a three transport collision took place around 1:00pm on the westbound lanes of the 401. Runciman says one driver has been declared deceased. Runciman also says one of those transports was a fuel tanker which has been compromised and has caused the closure of lanes in both directions. The incident happened just west of Prescott.

OPP officers are on the scene after another road closure in 24 hours on Highway 401.

The OPP says the closure is between County Road 15 in Maitland and Edward Street in Prescott. The OPP says the roadway is closed in both directions right now. Traffic is being detoured onto Highway 2.

No other details have been released at this time.
