Drunk drivers caught in Rideau Lakes and Elizabethtown-Kitley

Two area residents quickly learnt the consequences of drinking and driving. This past Saturday, OPP officers from the Leeds Detachment responded to a collision is Rideau Lakes Township. A driver rolled through a stop sign on County Road 5, crossed Highway 15 and landed in a swamp. A 25-year-old Smiths Falls woman was charged with impaired driving. She is scheduled to appear at Brockville court on May 11.

That same day, a 52-year-old Elizabethtown-Kitley man was arrested after a traffic incident on County Road 2. He also faces charges of impaired driving and is scheduled to appear in court the same day as the woman.

Both drivers had their vehicles towed and impounded.
