Snowfall Warning in effect for Kemptville area

UPDATE 1:

The area could be hit with up to 20 centimetres of snow this weekend.

A snowfall warning has been issued for the area, calling for the significant snowfall tonight into tomorrow. Rain is expected to turn to ice pellets then to snow tonight, with freezing rain in between.

The snow could also be mixed with ice pellets tomorrow. The weather agency says that, with winds forecasted to gust up to 60 kilometres-an-hour tomorrow, local blowing snow is possible, which could reduce your sight.

Then on Sunday, you may be in store for another round of snow and ice pellets, along with several hours of freezing rain overnight.

Roads could get slippery and dangerous because of the weather. Freezing rain warnings may also be needed this weekend.

We could see 15 to 20 centimeters of snow over the weekend.

Environment Canada has issued the snowfall warning for the area saying rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult in some locations.

A special weather statement is also in effect for our region. That could bring freezing rain and ice pellets.
