The Municipality of North Grenville is Taking a Look at Their Part-time and Seasonal Wages

The municipality is revisiting part-time and seasonal wages.

On Monday night, North Grenville Committee of the Whole looked at a new set of rules that would dictate how much part-time and seasonal employees would be paid.

The suggested wages would be in line with other neighbouring municipalities, according to the staff report presented to council members.

North Grenville Mayor David Gordon says they have to attract candidates with the right skills and training.

According to the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, passed by the provincial government, casual, part-time, and seasonal employees are also expected to receive equal pay for equal work to full-time employees.

According to the report, a pool supervisor would receive just over $15 an hour. Last year, the same position would net just over $13 an hour. Part-time or seasonal employees in the Engineering and Planning department would also receive an increase of close to a dollar to just over $15 an hour.
