Police are warning residents of a possible computer scam.
Leeds OPP says over the weekend it was contacted by a resident whose computer was taken over by a fraudster. Police say the man’s computer showed a pop up warning of a virus in the IP address. The man then contacted a number provided to him and his computer was taken over after he provided his credit card information.
OPP Inspector Mike Francis says you should always be cautious when sharing personal information online, and ensure that the company you’re dealing with it legitimate.
