The Ferguson Forest Centre wants to install a seed storage facility at the nursery.
During Committee of the Whole meeting this week the municipality heard from representatives from the forest centre about building the new structure as a response to the Ontario Tree Seed Plant in Angus closing. Pending approval the facility would be in place by the end of June, for July testing, and have the capacity to house their own seed and seed for other clients as well.
The seed plant in Angus is set to be closed in September of this year and both council and Forests Ontario have expressed their concern with the move.
