North Grenville Economic Development Advisory Committee

At this week’s Committee of the Whole meeting council received a proposal from the Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) with recommendations on how they could improve themselves.

Some of the proposed amendments include changing the total number of committee members, from a maximum of 12 to a minimum of 5 and a max of 7. It was also suggested the EDAC elect their own Chair and Vice Chair through a secret ballot vote, their terms would be two-years concurrent. The EDAC mandate would no longer include “Sector Teams” that focus on specific sectors within North Grenville. The EDAC would act as advisors to Council on municipal plans as well as any economic development questions, challenges or issues that may arise.

In December the EDAC met to review the overall focus and direction of the Committee and reviewed the Committee’s terms of reference. A task force was created to draft a revised Terms of reference based on comments and recommendations from the Committee members. The goal of this review was to ensure that they are providing the best value and return by identifying gaps, challenges and opportunities for the future.

Council will vote on this when they next meet.
