New Funding For Youth Mental Health & Addictions

Thanks to new funding Kemptville District Hospital will soon be developing a Mental Health and Addictions Health Hub for Children and Youth.

The funding, from the Champlain Local Health Integration Network’s Small Hospital Transformation Fund will allow KDH to join and work with a variety of community partners and organizations already providing services to children and youth with mental health and/or addictions challenges.

Children’s Mental Health of Leeds and Grenville (CMHLG) is the lead agency in the collaborative. Lorena Crosbie, Executive Director of CMHLG, spoke about the exciting potential of the initiative: “Our primary goal is to make services more accessible for youth”.

KDH says this will allow them to work with a variety of community partners and organizations already providing services to children and youth with mental health and/or addictions challenges. KDH President Frank Vasallo says “there is a dire need for these services across Canada, and North Grenville is no exception”.

While it is still in the development stages, Children’s Mental Health of Leeds and Grenville will be the lead agency in the collaborative.
