New Firetruck in North Grenville

Members of the North Grenville Fire Department have a new tool.

At this week’s Council meeting the department formally unveiled their new Rescue and Pumper Truck, which is replacing the 1991 model International Commercial Rescue Truck they had been using. North Grenville Fire Chief John Okum says while the truck they are replacing was a rescue truck the new vehicle has pumping capabilities as well.

The truck was built by Arnprior Fire Trucks Corporation and can hold six firefighters wearing complete fire safety gear. Okum says the new truck is a great addition which will allow them to serve both rural and urban residents.

The truck has an elevating command lighting tower, form proportioning system, 5000 litre per minute water pump and a tight turning radius despite the size. While the truck is considered multi-functional it will primarily be used for rescue responses.
