CREWS Formally Opening Johnstown Expansion on Friday

The final spike in the first phase of Canadian Rail Equipment Works and Services Incorporated’s (CREWS) Johnstown expansion will be hammered in Friday.

CREWS will be officially opening their new rail car storage and trans-loading facility when owner Clayton Jones puts the last spike in the ground. The site can handle 200 rail-cars at a time and will employ six people. A proposed second phase would double CREWS infrastructure and allow them to process another 350 rail-cars.

Owner Clayton Jones says the location is a key for them because the property has access to the main Canadian National line and is near the 401-416 interchange, the Port of Johnstown and Prescott-Ogdensburg International Bridge. The company already has sites in Maitland and Hamilton.

The opening ceremony is expected to start at 2:30pm, at 3518 County Road 2 in Johnstown. MP Gord Brown, MPP Steve Clark and Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Mayor Pay Sayeau are all expected to attend.
