Smiths Falls school receives name approval

The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario has approved the name of Smiths Falls upcoming Kindergarten through grade 8 school.

Using board policy to help guide the process the building will be known as St Francis de Sales Catholic School. William J. Gartland, Director of Education for the school board, says the decision is in keeping with the community’s tradition and name of the parish. Susan Forbes has been appointed principal of the new school, effective September 1st of 2018.

Construction is on schedule according to the school board and when completed the building will house around 420 students. There will also include a pre-school and toddler care program included on the property, to go along with the community support centre being put on with support from Lanark County.
