Despite the possibility of marijuana legalization being pushed back, the OPP says it’s ready.
This comes after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that the legalization date of July 1st isn’t a sure thing, and that instead it’ll be legalized sometime in the summer.
OPP Constable Shawn Peever says some officers are already trained to detect impairment by drugs.
Peever does say however that the possibility of extra time before legalization gives the OPP a chance to train more officers.
Peever says that the OPP training to become certified to detect impairment by drugs takes three weeks.
