Fraser Institute release school report cards

According to an independent study school quality can vary dramatically within town limits.

The Fraser Institute use the EQAO results to rank over 3,000 schools based on nine academic criteria covered. The elementary schools in Kemptville that were included in the report are Holy Cross Catholic School, Kemptville Public School and South Branch Public School. Kemptville Public was one of the better scoring schools in the region at 640th in the province according to the Fraser Report. Holy Cross Catholic and South Branch Public were both scored lower by the Fraser Institute, at 1887 and 2067 respectively. The report card included a total of 3,064 schools being ranked.

In a message to Ontario school boards this week the EQAO reiterated their opinion that EQAO tests are not meant to rank schools and that they do not believe schools or districts should be competing against one another.
