Jury To Begin Deliberations In Murder Trial of North Gower Woman Wednesday

The fate of accused killer Basil Borutski will be up to the jury tomorrow.

Closing arguments were delivered today in the trial of the 2015 murder of North Gower resident Carol Culleton and two other women in the Madawaska Valley.

Crown Attorney Jeffrey Richardson says the jury should have no reasonable doubt that Borutski killed the three women out of revenge.

Borutski is representing himself at trial and has remained silent throughout the 17 days of testimony.

The lawyer appointed to ensure he receives a fair trial, James Foord, told the jury to consider whether Borutski had the mental capacity to plan the murders when considering the charge of first degree murder.

Tomorrow the judge will read the charge to the jury and they will then begin deliberations.

Only 11 jurors will consider a verdict as one has been discharged because of an emergency.
