Leslie Hall set to be demolished

After being decommissioned in June, Leslie Hall in Kemptville is set to be demolished.

The building was first built 109 years ago in 1908. The municipality has looked into the cultural and heritage value of the building, and while there is historical value, maintaining it is an issue.

According to Phil Gerrard, director of Planning and Development, there’s evidence of water damage on all sides of the building, as well as structural concerns.

Council voted 3-2 to put Leslie Hall on the heritage register and not designate it, meaning it can now be demolished.

A demolition permit was issued on October 17th.
