At 12:01 Monday morning faculty walked off the job at all of Ontario’s colleges, canceling classes for hundreds of thousands of students across the province.
While there is no indication as to how long the strike will last, campuses for both Algonquin College and St Lawrence College across the region remain open and students services such as library access, food & beverage operations & study spaces will run normally.
We spoke with Glenn Vollebrgt, President for St Lawrence College and he told us that it’s an unfortunate situation for all parties involved.
Mr Vollebregt also took the time to remind people to allow for extra time when accessing campuses since they expect all of their locations to have picketers.
