The OPP East Region have released region-wide results from the Thanksgiving Long Weekend driving campaign, Operation Impact.
Over the long weekend, OPP East Region laid a combined 2782 charges while focusing on speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, and seatbelt violations.
The largest offence over the weekend was for speeding, as East Region OPP gave 1600 speeding charges over the weekend. In Grenville County, 178 were laid, making up for nearly 9% of that total.
OPP Inspector Paul Bedard says they are very encouraged by the lack of fatal collisions over the long weekend, and hopes motorists will continue to drive safely.
