Trustee Innovations Awards to be doled out tomorrow night

The 2017 Upper Canada District School Board Trustee Innovation Award will be given out tomorrow tonight.

The ceremony starts at 6:30pm in the Brockville Board Office. This year’s award recipients are; North Grenville District High School teacher Christopher Stewart, Toniata Public School teacher Julie Hunt and registered early childhood educators Donna Ross and Amy Brown, Rockland Public School teacher Sylvain Lamirande, Duncan J. Schoular Public School lead custodian Jim Barber and system principal of teaching and learning Shelly Corlyon.

The award honours UCDSB employees that make their system and students better through innovative practices. The award is given out not only to recognize the excellence of the recipients but to inspire others to be more creative in how they move students forward. Past recipients have included a custodian who painted a wall in a calming room so students could relax and a teacher who builds a chemistry or physics playground through unique lab experiments.
