Truck driver loses wheels, drives for another 60k on 401

A 65-year-old truck driver has been fined after his tractor trailer lost a set of tires on the 401. On Wednesday, the OPP responded to the incident at Reynolds Road near Lansdowne. The set of wheels detached from the trailer, then two wheels separated, crossed the median and rested in the westbound lanes. The truck driver continued travelling to a service centre in Mallorytown.

He was located by police at a truck stop in Johnstown, about 60 kilometres from where he lost his wheels. The Milton man was given a $390.00 fine for driving a commercial vehicle with a defect. Investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending. Anyone with info on this incident is asked to call police.
