Sirens could be heard Wednesday afternoon, as fire engines raced through town to an abandoned residence at 842 County Road 44 next to Fetherston Park. The building was once the Fetherstonhaugh nursing home and it has more recently been a private home but it is currently unoccupied.
Fire crews arrived on location to find smoke coming from the decrepit building. The fire was quickly extinguished. The incident remains under investigation.
