RVCA and partners manage to plant more than a quarter million trees this spring

The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority and its partners has managed to plant over a over a quarter million trees this spring.

The RVCA says the private landowner tree planting program is available through eastern Ontario and says that when more than 2,000 trees are planted, they partner to help keep the costs as low at $0.15 per tree.

Forestry Program Manager Scott Danford says the program is well on its way to planting 6.5 million trees by 2020 since it began a number of years ago.

Danford says trees are vital for a healthy and sustainable future.

While planting trees on any land is beneficial, Danford says they’re looking for one specific land type, more than any other.

If you’d like to learn more about the program, call the RVCA and speak with the Forestry staff at 613-692-3571 or 1-800-267-3504.
