Tip about possibly impaired driver results in firearm seizure

A tip about a possible impaired driver led to Brockville Police seizing a firearm in downtown Brockville.

At approximately 3:20pm on Wednesday police say they received a call from a downtown business of a possibly impaired driver leaving their parking lot. According to police they were given a description of the vehicle’s occupants and located the unoccupied vehicle at Centeen Park with the keys still in the ignition.

Police say the suspects were seen walking a short distance away and that they found a shotgun wrapped in a blanket in the car, which the officers seized. According to police two 31-year-old Brockville men were arrested and charged with; taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful storage of a firearm.

They added that one of the men was on probation at the time of the arrest and he was also charged with breach of probation.
