Kemptville to gain new french public high school

A new french public high school is coming to Kemptville.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of École élémentaire public Rivière Rideau yesterday.

The kindergarten to grade six school will see grades seven and eight added for the 2017-2018 school year. Once renovations are complete on two buildings at Kemptville Campus for the 2018-2019 school year, the school will then become a kindergarten to grade 12 school.

Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario President Linda Savard says the reason they waited to offer older grades was to establish the school in the community. Savard also says they were negotiating to get a long term location.

MPP Steve Clark, the mayor and councillors were in attendance for the announcement at the inauguration. The school’s logo was also unveiled during the event.
