Four new paramedics and one supervisor to be hired in Leeds and Grenville

The Leeds and Grenville Joint Services Committee has approved the hiring of four new full-time paramedics and one supervisor to address rising call volumes.

From 2010 to 2015, paramedic service calls have gone up by 21 percent, and are expected to rise by another 4.3 percent in 2017.

Paramedic Service Chief Chris Lloyd says the system is already running at capacity. The new hires will cost more than $600,000 dollars.

The new hires will join the 97 full-time and part-time paramedics and four full-time supervisors already employed.
